The Last War: The Bells Toll by ~KingAtticus:iconKingAtticus:

The plans were made. The Primian Empire with the Refugee Alliance, the Blue Stars, the Black Comets, and the Kingdoms of Demon’tara and Teran’tala were going to make a final gamble. All Imperial Fleets were to go at once to invade the Raygonian Empire. A massive coalition of ships was to be made, nearly four and a half million ships in all. The invasion plan was to occur in exactly one month, enough time for supplies to be gathered, troops to be informed, and good byes to be said. The Empire swallowed its pride for the sake of survival.

“Amos… I have a favor to ask you.”

“Yes, My Emperor?

“I want you lead the men into battle. You’re the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armada and a Grand Admiral. You’ve more experience than any other man of any race in the whole coalition.”

“This… is an honor. But what about the Grand Canal’s leadership?”

“Your son will take care of it with the aid of Grand Admiral Mustang of the Third Family. Your son is a Strongarm, the guardians of the First Family. It’s best he learns where it is safe rather than at your side on the front lines.”

“Yes, but…”

“No more buts! I might be younger than you by a far shot, but I am the Emperor of Prime and Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces. As such, you should respect my judgment. I did learn from my grandfather after all.”

It was in that moment that Admiral Strongarm saw Emperor Kratos back in his prime. His heart was put at ease from such a memory and bowed before his Emperor with pride and confidence.

“Your order shall be executed, My Emperor. I shall make you proud.”

In the meantime, Dr. Moses was examining Machii and gave her good news. She was pregnant with Miles’ child. Dr. Moses suggested to Machii about a wedding now before she became to round and have the child before marriage. He was registered to do the ceremony with permission from the Admiral and the husband to be. Miles nearly fainted at the sound of the news while the Admiral laughed joyfully.

“Well done Miles! Look who’s not a mamakin anymore!”

So within the week, a wedding was held. The Admiral gave Machii away, Kilala was Machii’s Maid of Honor, a Primian was Miles’ Best Man, and Dr. Moses conducted the ceremony as a Primian wedding. It involved Miles giving Machii a shield, symbolizing that she would always be protected, then with her giving him a dagger, showing that she trusts him with her life. In giving the exchange, they spoke their vows of love to each other. Afterwards they did the Human tradition of giving each other rings and kissing when declared husband and wife. It was then that Machii did a Hinatan tradition of splitting the bouquet up so that whoever grabbed the thorn-less rose would be married next. Then they all broke into dance soon after.

Miles was ordered to spend the rest of the time before the invasion force arrived as a honeymoon period, to which he made no objections at all. Kilala and Amos looked out at the stars after the ceremony was completed. She rubbed on his sore neck from the attack by the angry traitor, licking it occasionally like she would to her own wounds.

“It’s great to see them married now. If anything comes of war, it’s the realization of life,” he told her to break the silence. “Honda Wolfgang once told me that nothing good comes from war. I rebutted saying only those who lose war say that. He laughed saying he had a point of view of a veteran that lost the war while I had one that was barely winning… he was a great man.”

“My brother knew him as well. He told me he went to chase Kari Suzuka before she found Artemeus’ treasure. Honda was a real legend. Surviving Sanwood, befriending the leaders of the Grand Alliance, defeating the White Suns, fighting to honor the alliance with Primius, even Demons found it hard to hate him. Demon King Mako could forgive him when he failed to bring back a Demon alive. I only wish I could’ve met him…,” Kilala stated.

“If you hear his exploits, you’ve already met him,” said a cheerful voice. Amos and Kilala turned to see Kitsune, still in the same outfit he had when he interjected the fight from over a week ago.

“Lord Kitsune, how long have you standing there?!” Kilala spoke with a startled voice.

“Long enough, playful kitten.”

“I’m no kitten, you hot-headed fox!”

“Temper, temper…, you’ve got a fiery passion that’d make Atticus sweat. Don’t forget I’m a Wind Demon and we’re sly foxes,” he said with a tricky grin. “So you’re leading the coalition forces then? It’ll be a pleasure to fight with you.”

Before he could ask how Kitsune found out, he walked briskly away. He had an odd feeling about Kitsune, like he was keeping secrets and not to be trusted. He seemed… insincere.

Nice. I loved the references to Bounty and the occasional FMA names.

What does "mamakin" mean anyway? Wait, do I want to know?

I'm glad you asked. It's a Primian word that essentially means "virgin." Earlier it was used as an insult to the angsty soldier, giving the meaning then as someone who wasn't masculine enough to find a woman. This time around, it has no negative meaning attached to it but shows that Miles isn't weak by Primian standards.
